So full of nutrition including macronutrients and trace minerals, it is a wonderful healing food from a Western and Eastern perspective. ⠀ Black Sesame Seeds are known by their Chinese name as Hei Zhi Ma, and is firstly known for its property to tonify the Yin in our body. The Yin in your body is the lubrication and nourishment that circulates. Without this very important ingredient, our bodys run dry and if long enough hot. ⠀ The Yin gives plumpness and youth to our skin, lubricates joints, bowels, organs, nourished muscles and fascia. If there is a strong Yin deficiency, a person may run hot, especially at night. ⠀ Folk medicine has traditionally used black sesame seeds for premature greying, as the energy of the seeds fortifies the kidneys and liver. These organs are associated with premature aging. ⠀ Constipated?? - Add Black Sesame Seeds to your diet ⠀ One of the noted uses of black sesame seeds is as a lubricant for the bowels, thus assisting constipation of a dry nature. The seeds are high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils from a western perspective, which is lubricating, but the seeds nourishes Yin, and "yinness" softens hardness, and makes things flow more smoothly. ⠀ Black Sesame Drink - Winter Warmer ⠀ 2 heaped tablespoons black sesame seeds 1 tablespoon cornstarch Maple syrup to taste 1 cup water ⠀ Place the sesame seeds through a high speed blender. Add to saucepan with cornstarch and water. Bring to boil.
