A shamanic journey into dreams, symbolism, subconscious intelligence, and the subtle energetic systems that guide healing
In the world of Pure Alchemy, healing is never just physical—it is energetic, symbolic, and deeply personal. Sometimes, the body speaks through sensation. Other times, the subconscious speaks through dreams, symbols, and encounters that defy logic but feel undeniably meaningful. This is a story of such an experience: a shamanic meeting, a prophetic dream, a vision quest in the bush, and the profound reminder that everything—emotion, illness, memory, and healing—exists within an interconnected energetic field.
A Meeting That Set the Journey in Motion
Recently, I made a pilgrimage to meet with a Shaman. We sat and we chatted about life, shamanism, and if I was ready to study under his tutelage.
The Dream: A Message Before Understanding
That night I had a dream that I was walking through a field and near a river. There were many snakes curling and coiling, Orion (the Shaman) was leading me, and we eventually walked past an old shed with an old disused truck. The truck was slightly rusting and had sat there for a long time. The bonnet was open, I looked in towards the engine and was surprised when a blue cobra came out and looked me eye to eye.
In my dream, I was a little shocked but not scared. The cobra did not strike me, it was as though it was meeting me.
Dreams often arrive before comprehension. They do not explain themselves—they simply present truth in symbolic form, waiting for us to live into their meaning.

The Vision Quest: Entering the Subconscious Through Stillness
A few months passed, and I had decided to do a Vision Quest with Orion leading. A Vision Quest is where one sets out in the bush by themselves, fasting for several days. The aim of the Vision Quest is to connect oneself to themselves, and the land, to get guidance and clarity from their higher self.
The days were searing, and there were 2 thunderstorms in the 5 days of the vision quest. You are confronted with your fears with strange noises, lack of distractions, and environmental strains.
At the same time, you realise your resilience, your body’s wisdom, and that we are all connected to everything around us, including people, places, times and event. Your dreams become more vivid, and meaningful, and you have time to really process what is truly important in life.
Signs, Symbols, and Subtle Messages
A blue dragonfly landed on me while I was on vision quest, stayed for a while and then fluttered off. To me it was symbolic, although at the time I did not know why.
My dreams were giving me messages. Things I needed to eat to be healthy, how to work with different relationships with people etc.
In altered states of awareness—through fasting, solitude, or deep stillness—the subconscious has space to communicate clearly, without the noise of daily life.
The Dream Revealed in Waking Life
At the end of the 5 days of fasting in the bush, we were brought in to gather, share a meal, and talk with others about our experiences. We had our meals in a simple tin shed on the property, and afterwards, I walked out past a tin shed with an old disused truck. It was just like my dream where I saw the blue cobra coming out, except this time there was no blue cobra.
What mattered was not its physical presence—but the confirmation that the message had already been delivered.
The Energetic Thread That Connects Everything
The moral of this story is that all things are energetic and connected. Our subconscious knows things even if our conscious is not aware.
This understanding sits at the heart of many ancient healing systems—and it is where shamanic wisdom and acupuncture quietly meet.
Acupuncture, Frequency, and Consciousness
Acupuncture also works with the subtle energetic systems. All diseases, and emotions have a frequency. We can tap into these energetic frequencies through needling, and alter the frequencies. We can therefore influence states of consciousness and connect us with our subconscious.
Healing, in this sense, is not about forcing change—but about listening, adjusting, and allowing the body and spirit to remember their natural state of balance.
