Moon Gazing; An Ancient Practise to Regulate Your Menstrual Cycle

Did you know you can regulate your menstrual cycle just by gazing at the moon at certain hours the day, or night?

It’s call Moon gazing, and it’s the act of observing and contemplating the moon, often for purposes of meditation, reflection, or enjoyment of its beauty. It’s a practice that can lead to feelings of awe, connection to the universe, and a deeper understanding of one’s self. Some believe it can also promote relaxation, enhance overall well-being, and regulate your menstrual cycle.

In the past people lived in sync with the Universal forces. We woke up when the Sun rose, we went to sleep when it was dark. We ate what was in season, and worked with nature for all of the maladies. And gazed at the moon. Moon gazing was known to be an ancient meditation practice, associated with harmonising your energies with the moon.

Today, we are totally out of sync from what is natural. Our foods are mass produced, sprayed with pesticides and preservatives, processed, and stored in plastics that contain BPA and other hormone disrupting chemicals. These processes, apart from imbuing our foods with toxins, also strips the life force and nutrient values of the foods we consume.

We are inundated with blue light, such as mobiles, computers and other screens. This disrupts our sleep cycles, and changes our circadian rhythms. And affect how we regulate our menstrual cycle. We seldom breathe fresh air, from air-conditioned houses to air-conditioned cars, and an air-conditioned work place.

Our sleep is disrupted through artificial lighting, and through EMF radiation. For many people, even if they sleep, the quality of their sleep is poor, and they wake up feeling tired and groggy.

We avoid the sunlight by wearing sun-block, and wearing sunglasses, believing that these will protect us from the evil rays of the Sun, but not realising that direct sunlight has the capability to re-sync of circadian rhythms, to boost our immunity, and to generally make us feel good.

As a species, many of us are living in chronic stress, and inflammation. It is no wonder that Women’s menstrual cycles are becoming irregular, and traumatic, and painful.

Using Celestial Bodies to re-sync our energetic systems.

It is easy to see the effects of the Sun on our bodies, to life and to this planet. Photosynthesis harnesses the sun’s rays to create life. The sun warms the earth, and is foundational to our weather system, to condensation and rainfall. All living things sync their energetic bodies to the cycles of the sun. Serotonin is produced as the sun rises. It assists us to get out of our slumber and start the day. Like it or not, we have synced our bodies to this celestial body.

Our bodies and the Earth are also synced to the cycles of the Moon. This is clearly demonstrated in the magnetic pull which influences the tides of the ocean. In the female body, it is seen as the menstrual cycle, which often follows the moon phase. Many women who are not on the birth control pill, or other medications, will report that their cycles line up with a full moon or a new moon.

When we consider that the human body is roughly 60-70% water, there is a clear correlation that the water within our bodies is not exempt from the influences of the moon.

We want to align our energetic bodies with the natural world. Our lives and our health become less discordant when we harness the natural energies. It is far more fruitful to plant according to the seasons, than to sow in the depth of Winter. While you may still produce fruit, you will require much more energy to make it happen if you oppose natural law.

Working this way in life allows for a natural flow to occur in all areas. This includes your physical health, mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as your spiritual connection to all things.

Working with the moon cycles is no different. We can harness the natural cycles of the moon, to assist with syncing the menses, to assist with ovulation and work naturally with the moods and cycles of a Woman. The moon exerts magnetic forces upon all that envelope its field, leading to tide changes, weather events and menstruation in women.

If you do not believe in the power of the moon, you only need to ask police officers, and people working in hospitals such as doctors and nurses to see the spike in “abnormal” behaviours around a full moon. The word “lunatic” suggests that crazy behaviour is heightened on a full moon.

The best time to gaze at the moon is between the hours of 11pm and 1am, although this may be inconvenient for many. Try to gaze upon the moon for at least 20 minutes, allowing yourself to relax fully while doing so. Allow the thinking mind to take a back stage, as we observe the magnetic movements within our body.

Doing this for a cycle or two, you may slowly observe the syncing of your periods in lockstep with the moon’s cycles. Harness this force and use it to your advantage.
